But the real question is, how much genuine science actually backs this belief, or is it mostly a viral trend.<\/p>\n<p>The answer might surprise you at first, nearly all the discussion around onion juice traces back to a single small study. Let&#8217;s look at what the research actually says, and where the gap between reality and popular belief opens up.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The one study that started the whole trend<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The most frequently cited study on onion juice was published back in 2002 in the Journal of Dermatology. The study split 38 participants into two groups, one applied raw onion juice to the scalp twice a day, the other used plain tap water.
